Did you score sale priced turkey, or ten? Looking for some options other than roasting a whole turkey? Here’s a great one for you!

Cut the drumsticks, thighs, drummettes and middle wings from a whole turkey for this delicious and easy recipe. Using the crock pot makes this a very simple meal as far as preparation goes. This is a recipe I found many years ago in a magazine. I’ve made it using chicken numerous times and from sale priced turkey drumsticks in addition to cutting apart a whole turkey. .

I used a 5 quart crock for all of these pieces. If you only used the drumsticks then you could use a much smaller crock.

Hungarian Turkey Legs

Bone in Turkey pieces. Can use drumsticks, thighs, drummettes and/or middle wings depending on your family size.

1 or 2 medium sized onions. Peeled, cut in half and sliced rather thin

2 Tablespoons Paprika

2 teaspoons Sea Salt

Put a nice layer of onions in the bottom of the crock pot. Sprinkle with about a teaspoon or so of the Paprika and a good shake of salt. Add the drumsticks and thighs. Add another layer of onions, Paprika and salt. Add the drummettes and middle wing pieces. Finish with rest of onions, Paprika and good shake of salt. Pour about 1/2 cup of water over it all. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

I like to remove the turkey pieces and use the remaining juice as the basis for a simple gravy. Serve it with rice or mashed potatoes.

Delicious!
