It’s fall in Wyoming and I have apples on the brain!
Each fall we like to stock up on apples. I often order these by the case from Azure Standard or pick locally from friends. I love to dehydrate apples to have for snacking and baking through the winter but we also enjoy eating them fresh for as long as they’ll last.
Have you found a great bargain on apples? Do you need ideas to use up and preserve apples? If so, you’ll love this apple recipe collection (this article contains affiliate links).

Cheesecake Stuffed Apples
This is on my list to try! I saw this recipe the other day and haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Joe loves cheesecake and this would make a wonderful dessert for our upcoming wedding anniversary (now if only I have an oven before then…). I’ll substitute sucanat for the brown sugar and powdered sucanat for the powdered sugar (powder it by whirling sucanat in the blender). What a beautiful looking dish. Go here for recipe from Delish.
Creamy Carrot and Apple Soup
When my apples have been hanging around a little too long and aren’t as crispy as they should be, this soup is a great way to turn them into something delicious. Full of nourishing broth and spiced just right with a bit of curry it is a welcome meal on a cold day. Go here for recipe.
Dehydrated Apples
While apples do keep fairly well for many weeks in a cool spot, dehydrating is our favorite way to preserve apples to use later. Traditional Cooking School has a great tutorial on dehydrating apples here. And a full eBook on dehydrating just about anything!
Canning Applesauce
I am a novice at canning. I’ve done a few different sauces, jams and jellies and canned meat but am really just learning this skill. My friend Sharon, at Simply Canning, is a professional! Check out her canned applesauce recipe here.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Don’t throw away the peels and cores! You can stash them in the freezer until you have enough to make apple cider vinegar. Get recipe here from Wellness Mama.
